In honor of International Women’s Day, we’ve compiled our fave sustainable businesses that are founded by strong females that we just cannot help but adore. The ultimate #girlpower pledge that anyone can make is to shop sustainably and female-founded, so here’s our fave ways to do so, while helping the environment in a range of ways.
Let’s get started!
TABOO Period Products by Eloise Hall & Isobel Marshall
TABOO is a social enterprise that was started by two South Aussie girls just out of high school in 2017, Isobell Marshall and Eloise Hall. Their mission is to end period poverty both in Australia and overseas, and the way that they have chosen to do this has Mother Earth at the forefront of their purpose. Their range of pads and tampons are made from certified organic and ethically sourced cotton, before being packed into fully recycled and recyclable cardboard. One word: WOW!
Their manufacturer also runs their factory off of hydroelectricity, so these women are clearly doing all they can from start to finish in order to be the most sustainable social enterprise biz that they can be!

Little Green Panda by Manon Beauchamp-Tardieu
Little Green Panda, founded in 2018 by Manon Beauchamp-Tardieu, is a business founded on the belief that single-use products should not be “made to last.” When Manon discovered that 8 billion kilograms of plastic is dumped into the ocean every single year, she knew that she had to do something about it. And her method of choice: straws! With the premise of “drinking straws made to disappear,” Manon set out to establish a range of straws that would be as functional as they are sustainable.
We’re talking: 100% home compostable, no sogginess and no plastic packaging. With straws made from sugar cane, wheat and bamboo, they’ve also recently introduced cutlery made from up-cycled coffee grounds.
Conquering the issue of single-use products one step at a time, Manon really is the superwoman of sustainable straws. You can find out more about Little Green Panda, here.

Clean Circle by Lena Chao
Clean Circle is a company founded by Lena Chao, that makes reusable skincare and makeup-remover pads from bamboo and bamboo charcoal. With an emphasis on transparency from materials to ingredients, Lena has countered the issue of a lack of eco-friendly reusables that had the ability to do what single-use products do, without harming the environment.
Once you're done with your pack, simply put everything in a drawstring bag and machine wash. Clean Circle was founded to counter diversity and sustainability in the beauty world, and made accessible to you with the planet in mind.
