Compatibility and Machine Tips

Which machines can I use with your pods?

Our pods are compatible with all original style Nespresso® coffee machines including but not only the following: Citiz, Lattisima, Lattisima Premium, Lattissima Plus, Le Cube, Pixie, Essenza, Expert, Maestria, U, Inissia, Creatista, Concept, Prodigio etc. Our pods do not fit the new Vertuo line of Nespresso® machines or commercial Nespresso® flat disc capsules.

Is the warranty on my machine still valid if I use your pods?

Yes, the warranty on your machine is not dependent on the capsules used in the machine and should be honoured by the manufacturer. If in doubt, refer to the manufacturer’s warranty information that was supplied with your machine.

Can your pods damage my machine?

No, our capsules have been specially developed for use with the Nespresso® system & are made of a flexible, yielding biodegradable material. Tests show that our capsules do not damage your machine in any way. If you ever have any concerns at all, please contact us :)

How do I make a long black coffee?

For a long black or long coffee, we recommend extracting a pod for longer than normal by holding down the Lungo or long button on your machine until you reach the desired amount of coffee in your cup. This will give you extra hot water from the Nespresso water tank and fill up the mug. For best results you may wish to extract 2 capsules for more flavour & intensity.


We personally love and recommend using 2 x capsules (50 ml coffee) poured on top of 180 ml of hot water.

Why does my coffee take longer to pour?

The optimal extraction time for our capsules is around 20-25 seconds.


Our capsules are designed to extract slower than others on the market due to using specialty coffee with a finer grind. This slower extraction allows for maximum flavour, aroma and good crema on your coffee, in order to best replicate what you'd find in your local coffee shop.

Are you affiliated with Nespresso®?

Although we look up to Nespresso® for building such a great product, Nespresso® is a registered trademark of Société des Produits Nestlé S.A. and neither that company nor its affiliates have manufactured or endorsed our product or brand in any way. Pod & Parcel Pty. Ltd. is not affiliated with Société des Produits Nestlé S.A.

Why has my packaging differed from my last order?

As we're a new business, often times we change up the packaging to improve the product from a usability and environmental perspective. This may include changing the pod design itself to how they're packaged within our box.


Like always, if you have any feedback relating to this, we'd love to hear it! We can only improve when we get feedback :)

Sometimes the pods get stuck in the machine after I've used them. What gives?

Because our pods are made of a biodegradable material, they tend to expand a little bit when they heat up! This doesn't cause any damage at all to your machine, just that sometimes they get a little stuck in the chamber.


A quick fix is to gently poke it out with your finger (we recommend the sturdy index finger), use a fork, or wiggle the chamber a little bit until it falls out. Not life changing but such is the cost of biodegradable pod material.

Does your coffee contain any artificial flavouring?

Nope! All of our coffee is made from 100% specialty-grade, arabica coffee beans and our pods contain nothing but freshly roasted ground specialty coffee. 


Our pods are not flavoured in anyway.


The tasting notes depicted on our website and packaging are merely descriptions that give an indication of some of the flavours you might experience whilst drinking our pods. Much like Wine tasting, our different coffee beans express a variety of unique tasting notes. Each roast and bean has its own distinct smell and flavour to it, which we use as a guide for our customers :)

Disposal, Packaging and the Environment

How do I dispose of my coffee pods?

As all of our pods are made from a biodegradable and compostable material, you can simply throw them away in your green council compost bin* (or normal bin, if you don't have one). Be sure to remove the lid (this goes in recycling) before disposal.

*Due to variability between councils and their composting facilities, we recommend checking with them prior to see if their composting facilities accept bioplastic.

Can I put your pods in my home compost?

The short answer is unfortunately no.


Due to the variability of soil composition, temperature, humidity, and a variety of other factors, we cannot recommend that they be composted in anything other than a commercial facility.

What is the environmental impact of your pods?

Good question! All of our pods are made from a biodegradable and compostable material, in accordance with the EN13432 standard. This means that in around 90 days the pods will fully breakdown in a commercial composting facility. Around the same time it takes an orange peel :)


2-3 million pods are consumed in Australia daily, with a 30 billion pods already in existence contributing to landfill and environmental damage. By choosing to go biodegradable, pod by pod, you're helping save the planet from waste.

Why do you use aluminium lids?

After 3 years trialing and testing more than 15+ pod and lid combinations, almost all usability issues (inconsistent/under extraction, weak coffee, pods jamming in the machine) are due to paper lids.


Why? Paper, simply, is an extremely poor conductor of heat. As Nespresso machines use a heat plate to puncture the front of the pod (the lid) whilst simultaneously piercing the back with a three prong mechanism, when paper inevitably fails to puncture, water can't easily be passed through the pod in order to extract the coffee.


Knowing this, we believe it's unfair to you (the consumer) to offer a product that falls short in functionality.


We realise aluminium lids are an imperfect solution, which is why we're always on the lookout for new technology. Once we find a suitable substitute to aluminium lids, we'll be first to the scene!

I'm conscious about BPAs and food safety, can you tell me more about this?

Our pods are one of the most food-safe in the world and are both BPA and epoxy derivative free.

What are your pods made from?

They are made from a patented bio-based polymer derived from renewable and sustainable sources, like corn and potato starch.


The advantages of bio-polymers (often referred to as bioplastics) when compared to aluminium pods are:


1. Not reliant on fossil fuels for production (as is the case with aluminium)

2. No toxic waste when composted (aluminium produces dross when recycled, a hazardous substance to living organisms)

3. Lower CO2 emissions (approx. 3.8 tonnes of CO2 is produced per tonne of bioplastic, 75% less than aluminium, which sits at 15.6 tonnes of CO2 to be conservative!)

Is your inner see-through sleeve biodegradable & compostable?

Yes it is!


We use it to keep the pods as fresh as possible. Once you open the sleeve, we recommend you consume the pods within 30 days for maximum freshness.

Shipping

How can I track my order?

When we send out your order, you'll receive an email with a tracking number. You can then trace to see where the package is with our chosen shipping carrier (we use a number of different shipping carriers depending on the size of the order and delivery address).


If you have any trouble or questions about the whereabouts of your order, please contact hi@podandparcel.com and we will try to answer your email within 24 hours :)

How long does it take to receive my order?

This depends on where you live.  We ship from our warehouse in Texas, so we generally advise waiting 3-5 business days for majority of the US, though it could take up to 7 business days.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is a flat rate of $5 within US and free for all orders equal or above $40 USD (i.e., 6 or more packs of pods).

My tracking says delivered but I haven't received the shipment. What do I do?

Whilst we have confidence in our shipping carriers, as we all know, sometimes delivery issues come up. In these cases, if it's been 3 or more business days since false delivery, send us an email at hi@podandparcel.com, so we can chase it up!


To make things a bit easier as well, try and contact the carrier when you first see the false delivery and they might be able to sort it out on the spot. We also recommend checking with your neighbours to see if it was accidentally delivered somewhere nearby.
